What is Armistice Day?

Armistice Day is celebrated every year on the 11th of November to mark the Armistice signed between the allies of world war 1 in Compiegne.  The anniversary of the armistice on the 11th of November 1918, now replaced by remembrance Sunday in the UK and Veterans Day in the US.
